Keep India Point Park thriving

India Point Park is the only broad expanse of Bay shoreline in Providence accessible to the public, and about 75,000 people use it every year, according to city estimates. Since 2000, Friends of India Point Park has worked to promote, protect, and improve it as an informal, natural open space.

What Friends of India Point Park does

Volunteers planting a garden bed at India Point Park

Native plantings

We have been transforming the pedestrian bridge and other garden beds from a jumble of invasive plants and weeds to an array of native plants, bushes, and trees.

Volunteer care

We organize volunteers for our Adopt-A-Spot program, graffiti patrol, and annual spring clean-up, working with the Providence Parks Department.

Advocacy

We advocate on behalf of the park and public use of the waterfront. FIPP initiated efforts to bury the shoreline power lines in 2002.
